St. Joseph Recreation Association
I am writing this letter on behalf of the Board of Directors of the St. Joseph Recreation
Association. We have ended our operation of gambling, and need to disperse our
remaining funds. We needed to submit a plan to the state detailing where these funds
would go. We submitted that we would be giving this money to the city, in hopes that it
could be spent on recreational purposes. We are pleased to present you with a check for
$6,567.06.
Since the time that we submitted our plan to the state, we have been approached by the
St. Joseph Lab School for a donation to help buy athletic uniforms for boys and girls
sports. We feel that this is a very worthy cause, and would like to help them out. We
contacted the state to see if we could take $2,100.00 from our remaining fund balance to
donate, before giving it to the city. We were told that we would need to resubmit a new
termination plan detailing this. We do not want to take that approach, as it takes at least
six months to get it approved, and we don't want to stretch it out that long. So we are
asking the council if they will accept our check, and then honor our request to present the
Lab School with a check for $2,100.00. We would appreciate your consideration of this
request. We would like to take this time to thank you for all your help in the past, and
hope that you will honor this request for us.
