ST. JOSEPH PLANNING COl\1{.nSSION MEETING
December 13, 1976
The regular meeting of the st. Joseph, Minnesota Planning Commission was held
at the City Hall on ÌIlonday, December 13, 1976. The meeting was called to order
at 8:12 p.m. Present at the meeting h'ere Commissioners Ben Kremer (Chairman),
Ron Klein, Bill Bruemmer, Marlene Schroeder, and Paul Brinkman; City Council
Representative Hugo Weyrens.
Tom Jovanovich and Dale Mossey appeared before the Commission to discuss a
possible acquisition of a portion of property now milled by Harold Rothfork. The
property is pie shaped, lying between Highway 52 and the railroad tracks on the
east side of town. The Commissioners assured the gentlemen that no additional
regulations beyond those in Zoning Ordinance No. 59 and Subdivision Regulations
No. 55 would be involved should they purchase the property and build on it.
Representatives of Milner Carley Associates ~ appeared before the Commission
with a plot of a new subdivision called "Honor's Eastern Park First Addition".
The proposed nine lots in the addition were smaller than the required square
footage per lot, and lacked the required depth. The Commissioners agreed to
recommend to the City Council that the Council grant a variance (square footage
and depth) for four of the lots as presently plotted (lots 2-1, 2-2, 2-3, 2-4)
and that the Council request that the five remaining lots be converted to four
lots. The latter four lots would then be sufficient in square footage, but
still lacking in depth. The Commissioners recommended that the Council grant a
varlance (depth) for those lots. The Commissioners favor the variances because
the lots in question would conform to the surrounding properties, they are good
sized lots despite the deficiencies, and keeping the lots around 10,000 square
feet will prevent additional duplexes from being constructed--which might be
the result if the lots were replotted to 12,000 square feet or more.
Meeting adjourned at 9:40 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Paul Brinkman
Secretary
