HomeMy WebLinkAbout[04d] Probationary Employees~f CCI'1t f3F N7:JSlb~ Council Agenda Item 4 C~ MEETING DATE: April 17, 2008 AGENDA ITEM: Probationary Employees SUBMITTED BY: Administration BOARD/COMMISSIONjCOMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: The City hired two maintenance workers in 2007 with an employment date of October 22, 2007. The employees hired were Joe Pekarek and Eric Poissant. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Both the St. Joseph Personnel Policy and AFSCME Labor Contract indicate that employee will serve a six month probationary period. During this time, employees can earn benefits such as vacation and sick leave, but cannot use them. The Public Works Director, Terry Thene, after discussion with Maintenance Supervisorlim Marthaler is requesting the Council accept both Joe Pekarek and Eric Poissant as regular employees, completing the probationary period effective April 22, 2007. Both Joe and Eric have been working weekends since February with toe working every Saturday and Eric working every Sunday. BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT: ATTACHMENTS: Recommendation from Public Works Director, Terry Thene REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION: Accept the recommendation of the Public Works Director appointing Joe Pekarek and Eric Poissant as full time regular employees.
