Sewer Line Evaluations
Terry Thene, Public Works
BOARD/COMMISSION/COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION:
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: The council has budgeted for the sewer lining of existing sewer
problem areas.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The City Council understands that there is a portion of the City's
sewer infrastructure that needs repair. The majority of the problem areas are old Oft sections of clay the
with root problems and possibly more. This budget item is for the lining of existing sewer lines. It is my
recommendation to use the funds for televising and root killing in the sewer lines. This will give the City
a better understanding of the extent of damage within the sewer lines. If the City cross reference's the
pavement management plan with the finding of the televising, it could be cost effective to coordinate the
street repairs with utility repairs, if needed.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT: Approve $20,000
ATTACHMENTS: WW-8004
REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION: Authorize sewer the televising and root killing in the sewer
lines.

There is approximately 4.4 miles of clay file in operation as of today. The approximate cost to foam the
pipe for root killing is $12,380. The approximate price to televise the lines after root killing is $4,000. The
total approximate cost is $16,249. After this is completed the City will have a very good picture of what
will be required to help ensure uninterrupted service within the Community. Staff will cross reference
the information with proposed street reconstructs to help prepare a plan for repairs/replacements.
