Minutes of meeting held August 23,1999
Meeting called to order by Lonnie Abbott at 7:10 p.m.
Members present: John Walz, Marge Lesnick, Lonnie Abbott, Chuck Muske,
and Cory Elhert.Guest Mary Smith, Dave Heideman, and Marykay Gapinski.
Members Absent: Mike Mcdonald and Bruce Berghorst.
Approval of Minutes: Motion to approve the Minutes was passed.
Liaison Report: Mary Smith gave a presentation on the St. Cloud Community Events
Center. She showed a Video and explained what it was all about. She would
like the Park Board to spread the word.
Chairman Report: Lonnie let Dave Hiedeman give a final report on the past year for
the St. Joe Summer Rec. Program. Dave said everything worked out this
summer and he came in right on Budget. Dave told us that he would not be
coming back next summer, he advised us to look for someone to replace
him. Marykay Gapinski was there and said she would be willing to take on
the program next summer. Dave said Mary has worked for him the last two
years and she would be a very good person to take on this Program. She has
two years experiance and is a senior at St. Cloud State, she is going to school
specializing in Elementry Education. Dave said it would also be easier for the
new Rec. Leader if the Park Board would set the saleries for next years workers.
Old Business.
Disc Golf: Lions will wait until next year to start this project, they want to finish
the building at Memorial Park first.
Porti Potties: Marge had one ordered and placed at Klinefelter Park, when the
summer is over we will use it for the ice skating rink.
Park Board Budget: Numbers were crunched to make it fit. Lonnie took it
to the City Council, together they shaved off $500. on the tree fund and $500.
offthe Hockey Rink Fund, plus they withheld 10,000. from the Northland
Park walking trail subject to us finding a matching grant.
Tree Fund: John will order another 20 tree's to be planted at Northland Park,
Motioned by John and seconded by Marge to let John spend up $2,000. on
the new tree's. The tree's will be planted by the Park Board.
Meeting Adjourned.
Next meeting September 28,1999 Note were back to Tuesday's at City Hall
