JOSEPH PARKS COMMISSION MEETING The St. Joseph Parks Commission meeting of September 25, 1979 was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by President Ray Brandenburger with the following members in attendance: Bud Reber, William Lorentz, Mark Plantenburg, Dave Keller and Jerry Rennie. Next meeting the Commission is to pick out playground equipment for the parks. Installing 6 to 8 grills by the Lions shelter was dicussed. Forty names for no-name park were submitted to the Chamber of Commerce contest. "Morningside Park" was chosen by the Chamber. Motion by Bill Lorentz, seconded by Dave Keller to recommend to the Council to name the park "Morningside Park". Commission to recommend to the Council to hire Al Schloemer to maintain parks for $3.50 per hour. Simon Brothers bid is $880.00 to clean drainage ditch from County Road 3 to creek. Bill Lorentz to get one more bid and submit it to the Council. Four hole golf course by drainage ditch and County Road 3 was discussed. Bill Lorentz to ask local golfers for ideas. 25 gallons of diesel fuel to be purchased for Bill Wasner for work done in park to come out of park funds. Appraisals on park land by Rebischke apartments are as follows: 35' x 150' - $7,835.00, 35' x 224' - $9800.00, 35' x 160' - $7,959.50. Motion by Jerry Rennie, seconded by Mark Plantenburg to adjourn.
