HomeMy WebLinkAbout1980 [08] Aug 26ST. JOSEPH PARKS COMMISSION MEETING August 26, 1980 The regular meeting of the St. Joseph Parks Commission .was held August 26, 1980. The meeting was called to order by President Ray Brandenburger at 7:15 p.m. with the following members in attendance: Bill Lorentz, Dave Keller, Jerry Rennie, Dick Taufen, Laurie Terwey, Bob Lyon. Also attending: Mayor Hugo B. Weyrens and Councilman Herman Schneider. Bill Lorentz proposed dredging sand bar out of fishing hole and upgrading nature trail from campsite to bridge. Have Dick Taufen procure steel material for two foot-bridges for crossing the dredged ditch south of the ball park, to the amount of $400.00. Motion by Dave Keller, seconded by Jerry Rennie to spend a maximum of $1,200.00 to dredge sand bar in fishing hole. Motion carried. Motion by Dave Keller, seconded by Jerry Rennie to purchase granite (class 2) for nature trails, with balance of original grant money to be spent on this. Ray Brandenburger read proposal to LAWCON Grant in the amount of $18,000.00, of which we may get $6,800.00 but may receive nothing. The Park Commission requested Ray Brandenburger to attend revenue sharing meeting September 4, 1980 to request funds to purchase volleyball posts and net for Millstream Park, kiddie swingsets for Cloverdale and Hollow Parks, basketball backboards, rims, and posts for four parks, and decking materials for two foot bridges at a cost of about $2,500.00. Bill Lorentz to make accurate map of all areas of Millstream Park. Bill Lorentz to contact Bill Hill of DNR for an amendment to present permit for use of underpass under County Road 75 and another bridge crossing on Watab Creek south of County Road 75. All members of Park Commission to review Sartell park ordinance and to make proposals for all parks of St. Joseph. Motion by Bill Lorentz, seconded by Dick Taufen to recommend to City Council that John Barker remove basketball rim, net and post from Hollow Park or city will remove it. Motion by Bill Lorentz, seconded by Bob Lyon for Dick Taufen to purchase ea~gine for weed sprayer and chemicals for weed control. Motion carried.
