JULY 27, 1981
The St. Joseph Parks Commission met in City Hall at 7:00 p.m. on July 27.
Present at the meeting were: Blanchette, Kapsner, Taufen, Keller, Brandenburger
and liaison, Reber.
A correction was made in ..the Minutes of .the June 22 meeting by .Bud Reber as
follows: Juanita Fleming was not present at that meeting. Kapsner approved
the Minutes as corrected.
A Tire Gym was installed. at Centennial Park on.July 25, by-the St. Joseph
Jaycees. It was painted by Sue Koopmeiners and Donna Blanchette on August 7.
Progress on the Volleyball Court--the sand has been delivered to the area
by Borgert Concrete. The sand needs to be leveled by the city. The city
also needs to install. poles and put up a net.
Plans for the joint meeting of the Parks Commission and Recreation Association
was tabled until next meeting.
It was felt the golf course should_be left.as.is and. that.-when ..the ..ground
freezes to some degree this fall, that sand be deposited where the holes are
meant to be.
The City Council will have an answer for us concerning Millstream Park reserva-
tions at the next meeting.
Bud Reber will suggest to the City Council that more outletsbe installed
at the Lions Shelter.- It was felt that perhaps Mike Loso could do the work and
that the total cost would be about $100.
Bud Reber will ask the City.Council-about the possibility of a security light
for the tent camping area bathroom.
Reber will suggest to the Councilthat.the Park.Ordinance be amended to sap that
there be no glass drinking containers allowed in any parks,
Brandenburger made a motion to suggest to .the City Council to purchase an archery
target for the Archery Range--estimated cost $60.
Brandenburger motioned meeting be adjourned; Keller seconded it. Meeting
adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
