AUGUST 24, 1981
The St. Joseph Parks Commission met in City Hall at 7:00 p.m., August 24.
Present at the meeting were: Blanchette, Keller, Brandenburger, Taufen, Klein,
Lorentz and liaison, Reber.
Minutes of the July meeting were approved by Brandenburger; seconded by Taufen.
The tire gym at Centennial Park was approved by all.
Maintenance is required on the volleyball court... A pole is bent.and will be
straightened and filled with cement to strengthen it, before it is iasyahad.
again. It was suggested a box for storing the volleyballs be installed in the
Lions shelter.
Council has approved the purchase of sand for the greens at the golf course. A
pole and a cup will be provided for each green.
Joint meeting with Recreation Department was :tabled.
A suggestion for a notice to be posted in the Lions shelter in Millstream Park
is as follows:
Park shelter building is under reservation policy.
Occupants must show receipt
For emergency call 363-8250
For reservations call 363-7201 - City Hall Annex
Fee: In town reservation, $15.00
Out of town reservation, $25.00
10:00 p.m. closing unless otherwise approved by police, .
Four outlets and a breaker ca.n be installed in.the shelter for about $100.00.
Mike Loso could do the work. Lights for camping area could.be_installed fairly
reasonabhy.
The law restricting the use of glass containers in the parks cannot be enforced,
therefore will be dropped..
An archery target has been purchased for $44.95. Reservations ca.n be made with
the police department to pteck.up target for $1.00 fee. A season pass is available
also. Bill Lorentz said the police department would be custodian for t$~se
articles.
Reber will get a copy of expenditures of Park Board and pass it on to all. members.
Lorentz is seeking authorization to allow the contractor at St. Bens to dump
clean fill near pistol range. Approval from City Council is needed.
Motion to adjourn was made by Brandenburger; seconded by Lorentz. Meeting
adjourned at 9:15 p.m.
