November 16, 1981
The St. Joseph Parks Commission met in the Lab School at 7 p.m. November 16.
Members present were:. Donna Blanchette, Dave Keller, Marcella Kapsner, Ray
Brandenburger, Claudette Klein, Nel Pfannenstein, Dick Taufen and liaison
Bud Reber.
Keller motioned to approve Minutes of the October meeting; Klein seconded.
Dick Taufen reported the drainage ditches in Millstream Park are being filled
by the maintenance crew.
Jim Landwehr of Landmark Realty, and developer of the West End Addition, appeared
before the Board to explain the location of an .83 acre parcel of land he proposes
to deed to the city for park use. The parcel lies adjacent to the existing Hollow
Park tot lot. After much deliberation, the Board decided to further study. the pros
and cons of accepting more park land, and meet again in two weeks with a recom-
mendation. It was suggested, a questionnaire be distributed among the residents
in Cloverdale and Hollow Park additions, to get their feelings on park use.
Bud Reber reported the soft ball diamond fence was wrecked for the second time in
two months. Keller motioned posts be installed in front of the fence to prevent
further damage. to it. Brandenburger seconded the motion.
Estimate to install a safety light near the Scouts' restroom comes to $220 plus
Labor. The restroom in that area is the only one in the park designed for. .the
handicapped. The Commission recommends that the light be installed for safely sake.
The Commission recommends a temporary enclosure be installed in the Lions shelter--
something that would require the use of a key to operate when necessary.
Brandenburger motioned the meeting adjourn; Keller seconded. Meeting adjourned
at 8:35 p.m.
