May 3, 1982
St. Joseph Parks Commission met in City Hall at 7 p.m. on May 3. Members present
were: Bechtold, Blanchette, Gretsch, Hewitt, Klein and Pfannenstein.
Minutes of the March 22 meeting were approved with a motion made by Gretsch; seconded
by Blanchette.
The April meeting had been postponed due to chairperson Blanchette's scheduled
appearance before the St. Joseph Township Board, on the regular Park Board meeting
date. She reported that the township would donate $155 to park fund upon the
hiring of a student worker.
She also .reported that Jane Haugen, of the Financial Aid Department at St. Benedict's
contacted her in response to a letter which was sent to the college concerning
the opening of a summer job for a student worker. She stated there are students
available for summer employment. Blanchette to interview applicants at St. Benedict's
soon. Total cost to city for student worker will be $350.
Blanchette to contact Ray Brandenburger for help in getting the grant ~~2 project
underway, and supervising it to completion.
It has been reported that drug parties are being .held in Morningside park, making
it impossible for mothers with young children to walk through the park without
exposing the young to what is happening. We feel the city park properties should
be patrolled by the police department.
Meeting adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
