September 27, 1982
St. Joseph Parks Commission met in the City Hall at 7:15 p.m. on. September 27.
Members present were: Hewitt, Kapsner, Blanchette, Pfannenstein, Klein, Taufen,
and liaison, Reber.
Minutes of the August meeting were approved.
Blanchette informed members that the due date of Grant ~~2 is December 1983,
therefore no extension will be necessary to complete the project.
It was suggested, at a previous meeting, that trees be planted on the boulevard
on Main Street, however, Blanchette has learned that the Jaycees are planning
something else for that area.
Some trees in the parks are planted too close together and must be moved,but
this could wait until spring.
The perennials which were donated to the parks this summer were planted in
Millstream park on Saturday September 25, by Blanchette, Gretsch and Pfannenstein.
Weeds are taking over on the roads, in Millstream park, which have been covered
with crushed granite. Herbicide should be spread to eliminate the problem.
Blanchette requested,. the Board be notified when park problems are scheduled
for discussion at Council meetings. Reber felt an agenda could be sent the
chairperson,
The girlscout bathrooms are finished. City to furnish seats,
Park reservation revenue was discussed briefly. Reber stated, the money taken
in through park reservations is put into General Fund.
