The regular meeting of the St. Joseph Parks Commission was held in the City
Hall at 7 p.m. on November 29, Members. present were: Blanchette, Dewitt, Gretsch,
Kapsner, Pfannenstein, and liaison, Reber.
Minutes of the September 27 and October 18 meetings were approved.
Reber reported the International Practical Pistol Shooters Confederation
recently held a competition at the rifle range. The range is being used for
target practice by private individuals as well as officers of the Stearns County
Sheriff`s Department and the local police force,
The Board is still concerned about activities at the rifle range, Members`
question public awareness of the pending plan to lease range to Rod and Gun Club,
and the resulting activities. Blanchette to draft a letter to the editor of the
St. Joseph Courier in an effort to arouse public awareness and hopefully get some
feedback on the subject. Letter to be sent if Council postpones action on the
proposal at the December 3 meeting,
Trees in Millstream park will be tagged for transplanting next spring. This
will be done by volunteers in January,
A history of the parks in St. Joseph is being prepared by board members..
History will consist of acquisition, progress, equipment and activities in each
park from date of acquisition to present.
