May 23, 1984
The regular meeting of the St. Joseph Parks Commission was held in City Hall at
7:00 p.m. on May 29. Members present were: Blanchette, Braun, Gretsch, Klein,
Loscheider, Manderfeld, Pfannenstein, Strickler, and liaison, Reber.
A correction to the Minutes of April 23 as follows: The $80.00 approved for speakers,
etc. is not a blank check, but a one time approval. Klein made a motion the
corrected Minutes be approved; motion was seconded by Gretsch.
Student worker, Vicki Osendorf, has been hired for the summer. Blanchette and Braun
to attend the township meeting June 11 to request funds toward the worker's salary.
The Council has approved $212.70 for three basketball hoops, and brackets to be
placed in Hollow, Millstream, and Cloverdale parks.
Girl Scouts planted 100 pine seedlings along south end of Millstream Park.
Preliminary forms have been filled out and mailed to the Center for Community
Studies at the University of Minnesota
The forms necessary to apply for a Grant were received too late to make the April 30
deadline, but Blanchette, Gretsch and Braun to begin planning to apply for Grant next
year.
Manderfeld asked whether repairs to the basketball court in Memorial Park could be
considered.
A financial repdgt was distributed by Gretsch.
To earn the Eagle Scout rating, Boy Scout Jeff Bratland, must prepare a plan for the
project he intends to undertake. It was suggested he work on a plan to eliminate or
minimize the water problem in the Millstream underpass. Discussion followed about
the possible ways to go about solving the problem.
The Millstream pond needs to be dredged. A permit from the DNR to be obtained
before this may be done.
Braun reported the rifle range is being used by trespassers. This should be stopped.
