September 24, 1984
The regular meeting of the Parks Commission was held in City Hall on Monday,
September 24 at 7:00 p.m. Members present were: Blanchette, Klein, Pfannenstein,
Braun, Manderfeld, Strickler, Henry, Loscheider, and liaison, Reber.
Minutes of the August 29 meeting were approved as sent.
Grant #2 is completed except for a berm to be built on the west side of the
tunnel. Taufen was not present to report on its progress. Deadline for the
Grant is December 1984.
It was recommended we have the Army Corp of Engineers dredge Millstream Pond
either late this year (up to December 1) or early spring (up to May 1). Blanchette
to arrange this.
Blanchette will supervise students from the Lab School on Saturday September 29,
at Millstream Park. The volunteers are pledged to work two hours for the
Work-a-Thon sponsored by the school.
Blanchette met with Prentiss Foster, Recreation Planner for the city of St. Cloud,
for the purpose of discussing ways and means of obtaining and operating a wading
pool in the city. She left the meeting with much valuable information.
Joe Braun made a motion to have representatives from pool companies come in
to talk to the Board about their product and get an idea of the cost of installing
a wading pool. Klein seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Joe Braun to chair fund raising for wading pool. He will continue to present
his case to civic clubs in an effort to get contributions.
Nel Pfannenstein resigned as secretary; to be replaced by Claudette Klein.
Meeting adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
