Meeting of August 24, 1987 in City Hall
Members present were: Fay Gretsch, Jo Loscheider, Joe Braun, John Anderson,
Claudette Klein.
Members absent were: Greg Henry, Nel Pfannenstein and Liaison, Steve Defiler.
Meeting was called to order by Chairman Joe Braun at 7:06 pm. Minutes were approved.
Summary of Summer Recreation Program: Laurie Schultzetenberg reported that for the
most part the program went very well. There were a few problems: they could use a
phone in the shelter (with a jack so it can be removed), she could use a receipt
book for fees paid, letters should be sent to neighboring towns early in spring so
they can get some games to play in baseball because they couldn't schedule games
in the summer time. The camping went very well. The registration went pretty
good one week before the program started and each early paid person received a
t-shirt.
We recommended Laurie for the. job again next year.
New Member: John Anderson is very interested in the parks and was excited to become
a member.
Results of all recommendations made from last meeting: Steve was not at the meeting
so we did not get any results.
Winter Recreation Program: John and Jo will wnrk together with Joyce Fish who works
at the St. Cloud Rec Office to see if any summer interns would be interested in this
prc gram .
Warming Houses: A recommendation was made to put in windows and a radio with speakers
outside to hear music.
Playground equipment: tabled.
We still would like a maintenance person at our meetings to report what has/is
being done in the parks. Dick Taufen was told to do the work as time permits.
Does the city have a policy with insurance company regarding injuries etc. for
all-terrain vehicles?
Chairman's comments: Joe Braun will try to attend as many Council meetings as
possible.
New Business:
It was reported that the bathrooms in Millstream are in a terrible condition. A
group was very embarrassed to show guests into this area, it was so bad - odor,
filthy.
A recommendation was made to have vents ~~.it in~the bathrooms.
Advisory for Maintenance Report: Please check bathrooms in Millstream Park.
Check bleacher seats in ball park - Memorial Park - it has some pretty rotten
boards. Is the poison ivy controlled in Millstream park after the spraying last
year?
Adjournment: 8:25 pm
