Minutes of meeting September 28, 1987 Meeting was called to order by Joe Braun, Chairperson at 7:04 pm. Members present were: Joe Braun, John Anderson, Greg Henry, Nel Pfannenstein, Fay Gretsch, Claudette Klein, Jo Loscheider arzl Liaison, Steve Defiler. Minutes were approved by Greg Henry and seconded by Fay Gretsch. Financial Report: Fay will get an updated report from the City Clerk. Response from City Council by Steve Defiler: Coverdale Tot Lot -fence - no action; scooping where hill was and make it into a sand box so it can-also be used as skating rink was approved. New warming house suggested for Hockey rink; stoves are in working order; a window on the north side has been suggested to watch what is going on; John Anderson will, check to see the cost and maintenance of speakers, turntable, tapes to play for music while skating. Check on repairs from insurance report to see how much has been done - is this va~rk being charged to Park Board funds? Phone in Centennial Park shelter -City Clerk checking on it~. We suggested to have a jack put there so the phone could be removed in fall. Summer Recreation Program -Laurie Schulzetenberg would be interested in working again next year and was approved by City Council. Ail-Terrain vehicles -the state passed a bill which exempts cities from liability on city property regarding any injuries. it was suggested to have the Police Dept. give an educational saninar on the use of all-terrain vehicles. Joe Braun will send a letter to the Police Dept. with a copy to the mayor.- Bathroom in Millstream - we should keep an eye on this and report if the problem does not improve. Maintenance person at meetings - It was decided to give the maintenance dept. a note if we saw that some things should be done. it will be taken to City Clerk's office to be passed on to maintenance. SBABC - it was suggested to have the insurance carrier look at this structure before we decide to order it. Claudette checked with Rachel, City Clerk and she thought it would be a good idea. Lion Shelter - it is now open to the public and ready to use, electricity is in. Fay w211 check to see what damage deposit they feel should be charged. Someone thought $500.00 down payment for damages would be good fee because of-the fireplace and movable grills that were installed. What .fees should organizations/functions pay? Claudette checked on current fees for park uselreservation fees -City residents pay $15.00 and township residents pay $25.00 each paying a $50.00 deposit that is returned if the place is left neat and clean. The park board members thought maybe we should charge the same for either city or township residents. Winter Recreation Program -the person would work 20-30 hours per week and possibly 8 weeks. This would include a 2 week lead program to get activities set up. This could become a pranotional and educational program for the first year. Jo and John will-check into this program and who would be available to manage it. Property north of hill in Manorial Park - is this city or personal property of owner living west of hill? Game Field Jogging course -the city has accepted the course from the College of St. Benedict. We thought maybe the Lions Club would be interested in setting this course up. Jo, John, and Steve will check this out with the Lions club. Meeting adjourned at 8:40 pm.
