Mmbers present: Joe Braun, John Anderson, Jo Loscheder, Claudette Klein, Liaison -Steve Oehler, and Greg Henry. Members absent: Nel Pfannenstein, Fay Gretsch. Meeting was called to order by Chairman, Joe Braun at 6:40 pm. Minutes were approved by Jo Loscheider and seconded~by John Anderson. Tresurer's report: Joe reported that City Clerk is still working on the budget. Playground equipment is still very much in need. We would like to complete sand boxes with spring toys. Comments from City: Steve reported that Secretary's fees have been raised. Dic Taufen is keeping an eye out for fencing in horseshoe area. Check with insurance agent regarding a fence---the middle of the north side of the hill in Memorial Park due to flower beds at bottom of hill, so people cannot go down steep side of_hill. Camp Courage Wagon Train: 100 units will be stopping on June 15 for lunch which will be served by Chamber of Commerce, wagon train will purchase:.the_food. This is afund-raiser for Camp Courage which will begin in Brainerd and end at Annandale. What could Park Board members do to welcome this group? Membership: Steve will check with City Clerk if non-city residents~an serve on this board. Grooming of trails: Are persons grooming the trails covered by insurance policy. Check 'n summer to see if the jogging course could be used as x-country ski area also. Keep n mind to contact Sno Joes re: grooming next year. Steve will see if city could plow the entry to Millstream Park and parking area so people could use the park in the winter months. Dreg will check to see where trails could be made and John will check where they get signs to put on trees for warnings. Wrapping up music system: John and Joe installed the system and it is set to begin at 3:00 and stop at 9:00 pm. It works fine. Wiring should be put underground this summer for protection. Could system be used for Summer Rec Program and baseball games with loud speaker? It was also suggested that this music system be put at the Kennedy ice rink, maybe next year. Regarding the heat in the warming house at Memorial Park, Dic is checking for a heater to be put near the ceiling with a blower on it and would be thermostatically controlled. Winter Rec Program: ~.iite a few showed up for skating lessons. Bawling went well, many were there for swimming but there was a question regarding insurance. So the program did not take place. Some programs went well and some had no response for them. Joe will ask Geri-Ann to come to the next meeting and make a report. We do know that the program has to get started early in October. Playground equipment: Each member can look at books and see what equipment they would be interested n purchasing for this year. The question was asked why the basketball area in Memorial park does not get re-tarred. Could it be combined with Baker Street job? Sumner Recreation Program: Feb. 17 meeting involves people working with summer program. o ahead with 3rd Annual informational meeting. ohm attended a seminar and brought home some good materials to look at.
