Minutes of meeting of Dec. 20, 1988
Meeting was called to order at 8:00 pm.

Members present were: Jo Loscheider, Fay Gretsch, John Anderson, Joe Braun,
Nel Pfannenstein, Greg Henry, Claudette Klein and Liaison Steve Defiler.
Absent was Larry Christen.
Minutes of last meeting were approved by Fay Gretsch and seconded by John Anderson.
Recreation Program Dan Stark was interviewed and hired for the program. The
program will begin on January 15 and end February 28. Dan had many good ideas
working with elderly and shut-ins with Kid Stop program. The idea of having
colored ribbons -red, blue, white for achievement could be given to students
or elderly people for achievements they have done. Dan may hire staff for each
program as assistants. Rachel, City Clerk, will supervise the spending of money.
For swimming, they will hire CSB life guards. The principal at the Iab School
is concerned regarding insurance for outside groups. This will be brought to the
attention of the school/parish board. John and Joe will keep tabs on the program
director to see that all is going well.
Skating Ponds The music is goiy~g in Memorial Park. Steve Defiler has hired 4
young men to be caretakers at the open skate hours which are Mon-Fri from 5-8 pm
and Sat-Sun and vacation times from 1-8 pm. The hockey rink will be opened per
request with the key kept at Linnemann's Store. St. Police Dept. will check on
the skating ponds at least twice per time.
Grooming ski trails The equipment to rent is very expensive and will not fit
across the bridges and cost is $60.00. Someone will groom it for $10.00 four
times for the season.
Review plans of 1988 All has been approved that is on our list for 1988 but
some has not been completed.
New Business
1989 Plans The copy enclosed will give you the ideas we have and each member(s)
should pick out one project to chair and see that it is finished to completion.
Budget for 1989 Fay will get a copy of the 1989 budget that the City Council has
approved.
Meeting adjourned at 8:45 and Joe showed some slides of the parks after the meeting.
