Minutes of meeting on March 13, 1989
Meeting called to order by Joe Braun at 6:34 pm.

Members present were: Joe Braun, Greg Henry, Nel Pfannenstein, Faye Gretsch,
Jo Loscheider, John Anderson, Larry Christen, Claudette Klein and
liaison, Steve Oehler. Colonel Brummer was a guest.
Minutes were approved by John Anderson and seconded by Greg Henry.
*Special Presentation: Colonel Bremner addressed the group with aproposal/
concept for a new building with two volleyball courts and a mezzanine and
a guestimate of price $177,000 (Recreation Center). Of this amount $12,000
would be earmarked for a Recreation Center for Winter Program. It could
also be used for Craft Shows, dances, Senior Citizen card playing as it
will have a wood floor.
He was asking for an "approval of concept'° from the Park Board. An "approval
of concept" was made by Nel Pfannenstein and seconded by Faye Gretsch. All
members agreed.
Old Business
Winter Recreation Program: the program was good. 21 people are partaking in
the swimming program and this will go till April 1. Less than half the money
that was allocated for salary has been spent. The insurance was less cost than
was budgeted for ---cost is $70.00.
1988 Projects: would like the sand boxes, jogging course, and board around the
Big Toy in Centennial Park colleted this spring as the money was approved to be
spent in 1988.
Other: Letter is ready to be mailed to Hockey Association and Baseball team
manager regarding the moving of Hockey rink from Kennedy School to north end
of Memorial Park.
There is a bathroom in Memorial Park but is closed for the winter months.
Orange plastic around bleachers at park is not feasible. Dick Taufen said he puts
loads of snow near the bleachers each year.
New Business
Committee Reports: Nel reported on picnic tables and cost from Bremix Co.
Greg has a resource in mind for cement work in Memorial Park
where basketball court used to be.
Faye received copies from DNR and Extension office regarding
repair of bathrooms in Millstream park.
Joe has found a resource to repair archery range for a minimal cost.
John checked out Centennial Park shelter by taking lots of pictures
and a list will be given of repairs that should be done to make it look presentable
for outside visitors. Steve will bring these two items to the Council meeting.

Summer Recreation Program: Lori Schulzetenberg will again take the supervision
of the program and Dan Stark will be her assistant.
Liaison report: Skating rinks are closed now. The warming house at Kennedy
was used somewhat. If the rink is moved, Kennedy can decide what to do with
this building.
The meeting adjourned at 8:27.
