Meeting was called to order by Joe Braun at 6:34 pm.
Members present: Jce Braun, Greg Henry, Claudette Klein, Nel Pfannenstein, Faye Gretsch,
Jo Loscheider, John Anderson and Larry Christen.
Absent member: Liaison -Steve Oehler.
Final report for Winter Recreation Program: John Anderson introduced Dan Stark, the program
director. Dan thought most of the programs went well except for the volleyball. He had
a whole week of fun and games when the district was not in session. Many students came.
He spent $220 for copying and other than that not much cost involved. ***Bathroom facilities
are badly needed at the skating rink.
Progress on Proposed building: a suggestion was made that one person from the park board
be a liaison to the working committee. No other report.
Repair on Centennial Park: some repairs are being made now. Windows will be put in where
the boards lift up, but one board will stay on each side. The bathroom is being completely
renovated.
Tot Lots Picnic Tables: Nel reported that the cost of a picnic table will be around $150.00
from Borgert Concrete.
Bethroom repair at Millstream: it was suggested that a 10 ft, 10" pipe be installed in each
bathroom.
Archery: Joe has contacted the Great River Archery Club to see what can be done with it.
Basketball Court: Greg has someone that will give an estimate on some different sizes for
the basketball court in Memorial Park.
Summer Recreation Program: Lori will take the program again this year. She still suggests
to have a phone in Centennial Park.
Liaison Report: Money from last year's projects is gone. We will need to start over
recommending what should be done from last year. Remind Steve to bring up projects to
be completed from last year to City Council.
Other: Pat Schneider from the baseball team came to the meeting. He said it didn't make a
whole lot of difference if we move the hockey rink on the NW end of the park, but to leave
enough space for the lawn mower to go through to cut the outside of the outfield.
**A few repairs are needed: nails coming through the roof of the dugout and it also should
be painted. 1st base need a new roof. The grass everywhere needs to be reseeded, like
right now, infield and outfield. SJU has aseeder/disk that might be borrowed from there
that seeds a 5 foot stretch at a time.
New Business
Big Toy: Joe will call for another board to be put by the slide section.
Clean Up Day: The Girl and Boy Scouts will be contacted regarding clean up. Joe will put
an article in the paper and any local citizen may help.
Shelter fees: Jbhn made a motion to make a recommendation that non-profit organizations
do not pay a shelter fee if they want to use. Lions, Women of Today, Jaycees are some
of those organizations.
Other: It was recommended that Dan Stark be hired for the Winter Recreation program for
1989-90.
Women of Today: are looking for
