~(~ .~~
6:30 pm at Centennial Park '" ~%" ~'
Meeting was called to order by John Anderson, Chairperson at 6:45 pm.
Members present: Nel Pfannenstein, Fay Gretsch, John Anderson, Joe Braun, Claudette
Klein and liaison Steve Oehler.
Members absent: Jo Loscheider, Greg Henry and Larry Christen.
Corrections of the May 8, 1989 meeting: Archery: to get a "fence" not "tarp'°
and in the Tot Lot: it should read "former" rifle range.
Minutes were approved by Nel Pfannenstein and seconded by Joe Braun.
The paved stones were repaired in Millstream Park by the Jaycees.
A letter of thank you should be sent to the following organizations in their
on-going support of the City Parks, especially in the work done and donations
to the Praks: Jaycees, Women of Today, Recreation Association, Lions, Lioness,
and Rod and Gun Club.
Centennial park needs to be repainted on the outside yet. The inside could also
use paint. The bathrooms look very good and the new windows/openings make it look
very nice. Jaycees will paint the outside of the building.
Cement and rental of a post hole digger were approved at the last City Council
meeting.
Liaison report: picnic tables have not been moved yet but it was approved at the
last Council meeting. If the maintenance crew does not have equipment to do this
they should do what it takes to complete the project.
Reoomnendatian regarding the reservation of parks:
A local non-profit organization that donates time, labor or up-keep of the parks
during the course of the year for non-fund raising activities should be to reserve
the facility at no charge. It can also be used without a reservation for meetings
by taking a gamble on its use. The following groups are in this category:
Jaycees Recreation Association
Lab School Rod and Gun Club
Women of Today Boy Scouts
Lions Girl Scouts
Lioness'
At 7:05 we departed for a tour of the Parks.
Each person should bring a suggestion(s) of what could be done in Morningside Park.
We also looked at Cloverdale Tot Lot and thought a handicap entry should be made.
We checked to see where the sand boxes were marked out in Cloverdale and Hollow
Parks. We checked out Millsteam and thought the inside should be painted and
noticed that they are in the process of repairing the roof. We checked out the
Archery range area and Joe Braun thought a fence should be put up around the
perimeter of the area. He would gladly paint the stand and see that the targets
will be put up in specified areas according to length.
The tour ended at 8:20.
