Minutes from the meeting of August 21, 1989
Scheduled for Morningside Park -West Entrance
Meeting site changed to City Hall because of weather.

Meeting called to order by John Anderson, Chairman at 6:15 pm.
Minutes were approved by Greg Henry and seconded by Jo Loscheider.
Jogging Course: Jce is trying to get Jaycee members to help set up half of the
course one weekend and complete the second weekend following if possible.
Centennial Park: Dick Taufen will let Jce Braun know when sandblasting is comr
pleted so Jaycees can paint in September.
Horseshoe Pits: Jaycees redid pits and need to complete the ,job. They spent
$233.12 on the repair of~pits thus far. They look very good. Money came from
Horseshoe pit fund.
Archery Range: The price of bales is expensive. Joe has talked to someone at
the Granite Sheds in Cold Spring and can get some type of bale that is smaller
and then will assemble them with bands. The person he called has not returned
his call. John will contact Dennis Leikam to see how Scout Day went near that
area.
Hill slides: No information, will discuss at next meeting.
Report on park fees: Steve Defiler says it is being done as recommended by the
board.
Review of Summer Recreation Program: Laurie will be invited to the next meeting
in September to give her report.
Winter Recreation Program: John will check with Dan Stark to see if he will do
the program again next year.
Lions Shelter: The Lions are putting in flushable bathrooms and storage shed
near the Lions Shelter. They will only be open when the Shelter is in use.
Morningside Park: Residents of that area were at the meeting which began at 6:35 pm.
Members attending were: Richard Schultz, Darwin Erickson, Vickie Erickson, Mike and
Kathy Phillip, Pat Gangl, Joyce Richter, Barb Borgerding. The following suggestions
were made as to what to do in that area.
- paved walking area - picnic.. tables
- swimming pool -softball field with backstop.
- playground equipment -shelter
- water fountain -chain link fence on north side of park
Public meeting adjourned at 7:12. A committee was formed to study this area.
Members are: Richard Schultz, Darwin Erickson, Greg Henry, Tarry Christen, Greg
Henry, John Anderson and Claudette Klein.
Meeting adjourned at 7:20 pm.
