Meeting was called to order by Chairperson, John Anderson at 6:34 pm in the ______ - City Hall. Members present: Marge Lesnick, Joe Braun, John Anderson, Fay Gretsch, Rich Schultz, Darwin Erickson, Greg Henry and Claudette Klein. Absent: Larry Christen, Nel Pfannenstein and liaison, Steve Dehler. Minutes were approved by Joe Braun and seconded by Fay Gretsch. Summer Recreation Program: Lori Schultzetenberg did not come to t1-ie meeting so there is no report. Greg Henry made a recommendation that the City purchase catcher's equipment such as face mask, helmet, knee pads and chest protector. Some children have been hit in the face with balls. Dredging of Millstream was brought up again. There is very little water left in the stream. Also that Morningside Park should be dredged. Joe Braun purchased two bales of straw for archery range. There has been no response to the letter to the Police Dept. regarding the all-terrain vehicles driving in the Millstream park area. Trees would be purchased by the Lions Club but they would like a representative from the Park Board to come to attend a meeting. Winter Recreation Director: Dan Stark who had the program for 2 years is not able to do so this year. We will need to search for a new person. Notices should be out in early September so the following board can select a new director. Members are: Marge Lesnick, Greg Henry and John Anderson. Other new business: Women of Today asked to use the Centennial Park and were denied the use of the park. They are very unhappy. The Park Board thought this was remedied last year. Something will have to be done regarding the use of the park for local organizations. We went: on a tour of all the parks. The following are reconm~endations/repairs that the group cited should be done. Hollow Park Tot Lot: basketball slab made larger could use some spring toys garbage container painted Centennial Park: borders should be put around pea rock around play toy could use bicycle racks def ine rock area around shelter - make it even replacement of sink need a drinking fountain have sand put in volleyball area flowering shrubs would beautify the park chain link fence for the north side of the park redo the horseshoe pits Monument Park: tuck point the monument treat the ornamental.. trees for fungus infection picnic table sign on Hwy 75 for historical marker and rest sr_op Memorial Park: window for warming house -- Millstream Park: large shade trees around shelter paint poles around parking area plow access for winter. use. paint bridge sign on Hwy 75 for camping area concrete pad for basketball hoop ~' Cloverdale Park: opening in fence on southwest side -~ remove teeter totter bracket larger pad for b'sektball pad repair Big Tay (orange wheel) pea rock under Big Toy refuse recepticles bike racks -rte - Morningside Park: opening to the park from the north side ~~ water areas dredged
