P _ _ ~ ~' Minutes of meeting February 22, 1993 _ ~ a;_. . ~, Iy~ ~i ~ w7 r~, Meeting called to order at 6:32 pm by chairperson, John Anderson. Members present: Joe Braun, John Anderson, Margie Lesnick, Rich Schultz, Fay Gretsch, Darwin Erickson and Liaison Bob Loso. Member absent: Claudette Klein Minutes were approved by Darwin Erickson and seconded by Fay Gretsch. Liaison Report Bob noted that the water will be installed in Monument Park by Gene Lange in early spring. Pete Rothfork donated 2.66 acres of land for future park in Northland Addition. There will be an additional 3 acres for Park use in phase three running North and South adjacent to the 2.66 acres for the City to buy at market value. The City will have first option to buy. Skating rinks will be closed as of February 28, 1993. Old Business Joe Braun reported that the skating lessons were a success. He will be getting a report from the volunteer skating instructors and hand them out at the next meeting. He will have the secretary send thank you cards to the instructors. Community Information meeting has been posponed to a later date. Would like to get the Park surveys in before the meeting. John typed up the park survey for the members with a few additions. Would like to have them mailed out within the next two weeks and returned before our next meeting~(March 22). If the response is poor, most members volunteered to go door to door with the surveys in warmer weather. Park Priorities - 1993 Monument Park 1. Flowers Centennial Park 1. Sandbox - Spring toys 2. Horseshoe pits 3. Rock around shelter 4. Garbage recepticles Tot Lots 1. Paint equipment - Court Service? Morningside Park 1. Chain link fence 2. Leveling dirt 3. Jogging track Millstream 1. Tree planting • .r New Business Earth Day: John spoke with Dick Taufen, Maintenance Department, who had no'specific projects at this time. John informed him that he could get wood chips free from the St. Cloud Recreation Department for Morningside Park. Mr. Taufen agreed. to trans}~ort them and we will also look into Court Services for volunteer help. To apply for Earth Day Grant ($1,000) we agreed on the following projects: 1. Material for walking/jogging trail in Morningside Park 2. Lighting of Monument - Monument Park 3. Benches for Monument Park Spring City-Wide clean up is scheduled for Sat. April 24 and wi].1 be coordinated by Joe Braun. He will also run the ad's in the St. Joseph Newsleader. John met with the Sumner Recreation Board regarding Summer recreation.. We will get a more detailed report from John at our next meeting.. John handed out copies of the By-Laws - St. Joseph City Parks Commission, and will send a copy to member absent. All members are to review each of the articles and at the next meeting members will vote on all the articles in the By-Laws. Meeting adjourned 7;53 pm.
