Meeting was called to-order by John Anderson at 6:23 pm.
Members present: Joe Braun, John Anderson, Fay Gretsch, Irma Lanier, Darwin .Erickson,
Richard Schultz, Claudette Klein, and Liaison Bob Loso.
Minutes were approved by Joe Braun and seconded by Fay Gretsch.
Liaison Report:
Bob Loso explained the plat of Northlan Edition in regard to park area. 2.6 acres has
been donated by Rothfork and there will be $6,000 an acre fee we may expect. It was
sugested that the seeding of the park area should be done as soon as possible.
A hard surface (concrete) of 48" will surround the shelter in Centennial Park and curbing
wrapped around south side of building will be completed this summer sometime according to
ADA project requirements.
The trees were planted in Morningside Park.
Bid for Alumintmm bleachers for Memorial park was too low so no purchase will be made but
repairs on present bleachers will be done. The backstop will be replaced on June 2.
The fence in Millstream Park has been completed.
Earth Day Clean up:
Joe Braun had about a dozen young people the following week because of the snow on the
scheduled day. The young people did a few parks.
All trees in ~Qrningside Park that were planted have been flagged. Rich is still checking
on nesting signs for this park.
ADA requirements:
The Lions will repair the outside bathrooms in Millstream park according to specifications.
A motion was made by Marge Lesnick to purchase flowers for under $250 to be planted in
Monument Park and seconded by Fay Gretsch. Marge will check on purchasing some perennial
plants for this area and she will also check the shrubs that need replacement.
Park Rules:
Irma Lanier said she turned them in to the City Clerk and will print and laminate them
to be posted in the parks.
New Business:
Ric Sc u tz had Dennis Katzner come out to give ideas regarding what could be done in
Morningside Park. A suggestion was made to make a playground area 200 x 200 for playing
baseball but members thought that could be smaller.
The entry way to the park has a lot of erosion and needs to be repaired. It was suggested
to black top the entry way.
It was also suggested that the City Maintenance water the trees and mow around this area.
A recommendation was made to mow the path between the seedlings by Richard Schultz and
seconded by Marge Lesnick.
Horse Shoe pits in Centennial Park':
A recommendation was made to improve the existing pits and add 2 more.
Next meeting will be Jane 27 in the Lion's Park Shelter at 6:30 pm.
A special meeting will be held on June 13 for the 1995 budget for parks at 6:30 in the
Legion Club.
