V~• Meeting called to order by Vice-Chairman Joe Braun at 6:40 pm. Members present: Joe Braun, Darwin Erickson, Fay Gretsch, Irma Lanier and Liaison Bob Loso. Members absent: John Anderson, Marge Lesnick, Claudette Klein. Munutes from December meeting were approved by Darwin Erickson and seconded by Fay Gretsch. Liaison Report: Su~aner Recreation program proposals submitted by Fe'~ruary 2Bth. Regarding membership for Park Board: The attorney informed Bob Loso that changes in the number can not be made until March of 1997. Bob Loso will. discuss member- ship with the City Attorney. A request was made to have phones installed in the parks. Cost prohibits installa- tion of pay phones ($50 per month plus hook up). It will. be looked into to find a cost efficient way of installing some type of phone service. Minnesota Design Team is coming in April. The Design team consists of architect, engineers and planners to enable St. Joseph to become a Star City. Park Board members are asked to attend the meeting to provide information and give feedback to suggest to enhance our parks. Exact time of meeting will. be .announced when available. Bob Loso is applying for four types of rants available: 1) Outdoor Recreation; 2) Natural Scenic Area Grant Program; 3) Cooperative Trail Development Grant; 4) Conservation Partners Grant. Park Board members will. meet on February 13 at 6:30 pm to submit and discuss ideas for Grant proposals. Old Business: Babe Ruth is going ahead. OPen enrollment. will be held February 18th at City Ha 1. At this time we are estimating 3 teams at a cost of $1,900 per team. The REC Association will take over teams cost after the first year. An area is being looked for to set up a little league field. Winter Recreation: Jce Braun has sent out flyers for instructors for skating eTssons. Aso yet he has received no response. Park Signs: One sign will be made and installed at Centennial Park. Construction and installation s?t for May 1st. Irma Lanier will get the price of materials to be submitted to City Council. Donations: Joe braun is contacting organizations for donations for a Big Toy to e insta led at Morningside Park. New Business: Not enough members were present to update 5-year plan. Soccer fields are being planned for Millstream park. The cost of goals will be checked in to. Suggestions for Morningside development in 1995: Big Toy, Tar parking lot, instal] bridges, instal] backstop. Have 5-year plan placed in booklets and/or transparencies.
