Minutes of meeting of April 28, 1997
:Meeting was called to order by Joe °raun at 6:30 om in the City Nall.
Members present: Irma Lanier, Joe Braun, Dave Thomas, Claudette Klein and
Liaison Bob Loso
Piember absent: ~1arge Lesnick
Minutes of Nfarch approved by Irma and seconded by Cave Thomas.
Liaison 2eport:
Trai in Klinefelter park has been approved. Tie project !gill begin in
July after the nesting season. ~ienches will also be installed along the
trail. The Lions groin is still planning on building some type of building
in the future.
Seeding should be done this summer in the Soccer area. "€ike Salzburg !vill be
doing this project.
'yew Business:
y asce a slab will be installed in Centennial ?ark this summer. Concrete
Plus will he diong the work with an estimate of 52,950 and the slab will be
40x40. Irma Lanier made a motion to install a basketball court in Centennial
?ark to be complete by June 1. Dave Thomas seconded the motion. Motion carried.
~'aintenance Department stated that the Hockey ..°,ink needs a lot of repair for
safety. A study was made by the sub-committee 'Irma Lanier, Joe Braun, Claudette
Klein; to have the boards removed. "aintenance will do the work.
~Jendv Klinefelter thanked the group for designating Plorningside Park to Klinefelter
ar ~n memory of Brian Klinefelter.
She also had a sketch of a memorial 7'x5'x2' that she would like placed in the park.
questions were raised as to !where it should be placed as to vandalis~^, etc.
~;orthland Park:
'Members iving in the area attended themeeting. They had some plans regarding
the placement of volleyball, basketball, small children's play area. Bob Loso
asked to have bids from the different businesses that the group had spoken to
for help to install these areas. gob and Dave stated they would help some of
the residents stake out the areas on April 30.
Old Business:
A. Clean-up in ~1ay. Joe Braun has taken care of getting groups to help on Iaay 3.
B. Equipment in Klinefelter ?ark: The addition to the Sig Toy has been ordered
and should be in soon.
C. Planting of trees - Trees will be arriving at CSR root cellar on ,day 1. Bob
will pick them up. They will be planted on ?lay 9.
~. Camping rules: Joe, Irma and Marge will review the park rules and have them
posted.
E. Bulletin Boards: !~'e are asking "Marge to check this out.
Pathrooms in ~;emorial Park: The cost is too great fora 12 week season.
Summer rEcreation: Dave !ieideman explained the upcoming program. So far he has
?0 students, but expects a lot more to sign up soon. Be will send letters to
local businesses for donations.
