. - Minutes of meeting held 23 October 2001
Meeting called to order by Lonnie Abbott at 7:01 pm.
Members present: Lonnie Abbott, Kyle Schneider, Bruce Berghorst, Chuck Muske,
Marge Lesnick, John Walz, Jennifer Wirz
Guest: Pat Schneider
Approval. of Agenda: Motion by Berghorst, seconded by Lesnick
Approval of Minutes from 17 September 2001: (Abbott, Berghorst)
Chair Report: Pat Schneider met with the board to discuss some financial concerns he
has regarding the baseball field. Mr. Schneider presented the board with a listing of
projects completed, balances due, and projects he would like to have completed The
board discussed funding part of a project that has already been completed, but we
cannot allocate funds from the new budget. Any money allocated must come from the
current budget and will be subject to further discussion. Mr. Schneider was asked to
continue to solicit donations to cover costs.
Old Business: Timers for lights are in! The volleyball court in Northland is on hold
until Spring. The benches and picnic tables we ordered are in storage and will
be ins in the Spring. The accessible parking space in Northland is in.

Fancily fun day will be Saturday, January 19, 2002. Our discussion and
planning of this event is tabled until the November meeting.
Liaison Report: For our televised meeting, Kyle will prepare a display of some of the
accomplishments of the past year.
Skateboard park closed September 24.
We should make highway signs to IQinefelter and Northland - a project for
Spring.
We may consider hosting softball district or state tournaments -Kyle will let us
know more about this at a later date. ............... ....... . ... ._ .........~ _....
The St. Joseph Wobegon~ Trail Facility and Historical Center has been planned
and sketched out. The CCenter is a replica of the old train station in St. Joseph,
and will be the site of a future history museum. There is a matching grant of
$125,000 available from the state, and we stand a good chance of receiving the
grant The total amount ($250,000} will cover cost of land, parking lot, and
building. The goal is to complete this project by 2003.
Kyle and the Park Board extend special thanks to Tom Skane, who is the hard-
working chair of the Wobegon~ Trail Committee, and to Bill Warner who has
donated his storage trailer for our skate park equipment.
