Minutes of meetimg held Apri1.23, 2002
Meeting called to order by Lonnie Abbott at _6:00 P.M.

Guest speakers of Donna. Blanchette and Kim Burnett from 'the Farmers 1.Vlazket. They
were into discuss the past and future .of the Farmers :1Viarket. Currently the Market has
been using the Del-Win's parking lot, and each year that they have been there, they
increased the number of vendors because of the success of the Market. While the Del-
Winhas worked well.for the. Market, .they are asl4ng:to Park Board~to keep them in gird
~r,, for fiiture planning. Tb.ey would hke to move closer to downtown cause studies have
(,~~) shown, according to Kim, that downtown business .also benefit from the increased traffic
in the area due to the Farmers Market.
Kyle and Lonnie presented to the Board an update to the Comprehensive Plan that the
City is looking into. Motion by Lonnie to support the Update to the Comp. Plan for Park
Board issues, and that we as the Park Board be included in the decision making process
of finalizing the Comp. Plan im regards to park issues. Seconded by Bruce. Motion
Approved.
Lonnie briefly discussed the proposal of Ted Schmidt from Lumber One-Avon on putting
a pool into Northland Park. Due to the long-term costs of such a proposal and other
facilities in the area, the Board did not believe it was feasible for a pool. Lonnie called
Ted to inform him of the Boards decision.
Old Business:
Lonnie obtained an estirnate.for a concrete basketball court for Northland Park from Kurt
Schneider. The estimate is for $6000. The Board will be looking into getting a second
estimate.
Sign for Northland Park. Kyle stated that he talked with Dick about the sign, and Dick
felt that such a sign we had discussed in previous meetings would cost azound $3000. The
Board is going to continue working on design and research of a sign.

Town-Gown fund raiser softball tournament May 4. Everyone is to meet at the ball fields
by 9:30 A.M. Marge to bring the condiments, napkins, and money for change. John will
pick up the hamburger and. hot dog buns. Chuck will bring his grill. Lonnie will pick up
the hamburgers and brats, and potato chips. Bruce will bring cooking utensils and
cockpo~.
New Business: Tabled.
Liaison Report
Kyle was looking into signage for the Frisbee golf at Millstream. What we would like to
do is follow the. same style and rules that Riverside Pazk in St. Cloud uses. Motion by
Lonnie to check on pricing for signage. Seconded by John. Motion approved. Motion by
Chuck to approve the purchase of the rubber tee pads for the tee boxes. Seconded by
Marge. Motion approved.
Park clean up for Millstream by the softball fields is scheduled for Saturday, April 27 by
the Rec.-Assoc. Kyle stated .that he talked to Maintenance about grading the parking lot
at by the softball fields before the Town-Gown Tournament. Lonnie stated that he would
like to see the dirt piles at Kleinfelter Park be removed.
