HomeMy WebLinkAbout1994 [12] Dec 19Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the Planning Commission
for the -City of St. Joseph met in special session on Monday,
December 19, 1994 at 7:30 p.m. in the St. Joseph City Hall.
Members Present: Chair Hub Klein. Commissioners Kurt Schneider,
Linda Sniezek, Marge Lesnick, Dan Nierengarten, Andy Brixius.
Council Liaison Ken Hiemenz. Secretary of the Commission Judy
Weyrens.
Others Present: Donald "Bud" Reber.
The purpose of the meeting is to discuss a proposed lot split of
Subway Foods. Weyrens informed the Commission that Subway Foods is
proposing to purchase the property west of Kay's Kitchen. However,
the parcel is part of the legal description for the entire trailer
park. Therefore, they are requesting to split the front four lots
off the remaining portion. The City Council has approved the
request pending Planning Commission approval.
Sniezek questioned if the property being requested to be split was
to be used for the construction of an emergency shelter. Klein
stated the trailer park currently has a shelter located near the
center of the parcel. Schneider stated the shelter location should
not have impact on the request before them.
Commission Members discussed the current shelter with regard to the
size, condition and location. Mayor Reber stated that he would
check with the Emergency Services Director for the requirements of
a shelter.
Commission Members also discussed the setback requirements with
General Business abutting the Mobile Home District. Commissioner
requested they receive information on the setbacks prior to
Subway's request for a building permit.
Lesnick made a motion supporting the approval of the Council to
split the property as described below; the motion was seconded by
Nierengarten.
