BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Attached you will find the activity report for the month of April. There
were 251 reported incidents during the month of April. This compares with 249 incidents in 2008 and
249 incidents in 2007.
This month was very busy with student activity in our community. We had 41 citations issued for
underage consumption of alcohol. A number of these were issued at parties that took place at the
assorted student residences. Noise complaints were down this year thanks in part to the weather and
our proactive approach to stopping the noise before the complaint came in. The officers would stop by
if the noise was getting out of hand. Warnings were given and if the officers would have to return a
citation would be issued. All in all the spring went off with very few problems. Senior Farewell had no
reportable incidents and went off without a hitch.
The officers finished their yearly taser update and will be doing their use of force training this month.
Officers will also be attending a domestic abuse law update here in St. Joseph on May 28`h. The city
attorney attended our last staff meeting and did an update on new law changes that effect vehicle
searches and DWI arrests.
