We will be serving 192 low income youth and young adults, ages 14-24, in this program beginning on June 22 on the campus of St. Cloud State University. The work readiness program, career®p f is funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act 2009, and will offer two sixteen day programs. Teams of eight youth and young adults, under the supervision of a caring and skilled team leader, will team and apply the skills employers need and complete community work projects. The first session will be for youths ages 14 - 17 and will be held 22 June -16 July. The second session will be for young adults ages 18 - 24 and will be held 20 July -13 August. SBETC is soliciting work project requests from public and non-profit entities in Stearns and Benton Counties for ~areere~E (Preference given to requests received by 1 June): • Projects occurring between 22 June - 16 July will be completed by youth ages 14 - 17 and will need to comply with Child Labor laws. Projects occurring between 20 July -13 August will be completed by young adults ages 18 - 24 and will not need to comply with Child Labor laws. • Work completed by the ~areerONE participants cannot take away work from currently employed or workers on layoff. Worksites covered by collective bargain agreements will need concurrence from bargaining agent. • The worksite is responsible for providing needed supplies and equipment; however, the CareerON~' program will supply protective gloves, sunscreen, and insect repellent. • Participants will be covered by general liability insurance through SBETC. • Preference will be given to the projects that are most teaming rich for the participants. • Transportation to and from the worksite will be provided by SBETC. • SBETC will provide direct supervision of the participants. Attached is the Work Project Request form. Feel free to make additional copies. Please complete one for each project you wish to have considered.
