Board Appointee
Last Thursday, City Council voted to save some money and will not add another member to the Park
Board.
CSAH 2 & 3 realignment will still start this fall as well as the upgrade of 51 to Kramer Lake.
Capital Improvement Plan
Centennial Park -Marge will meet with the salesperson about playground equipment. There has been no
meeting of the Sales Tax Committee so we don't know the status of our request for funds.
Northland Park -equipment is going in this summer. What kind of fill are we required to use? Terry will
call the League of MN Cities to check the requirements.
Nuggets are $755 for 20001bs.
Mulch is more expensive - $1300 for 20001bs. -for 50 cubic feet.
Lesnick -The Lions Club approached Marge regarding the tables at the Lions shelter which are
becoming worn. They need 6 - 8 ft. plastic top tables for $80 each from Sam's Club. Ehlert suggested
trading the tables for 50 hours of volunteers to install the playground equipment at Northland Park.
MOTION - Ehlert/Lesnick -The Park Board will pay up to $500 for 6 - 8 ft tables at The Lions Shelter at
Millstream Park in exchange for 50 hours of volunteer work at Northland Park to install the playground
equipment this summer. Motion passed.
Symanientz -Lori Barlett will not be attending the Park Board meetings unless requested due to the
tighening of the budget. Any requests can be made by email.
Thene -Millstream Park -the middle bridge -the high waters washed part of it away and it is staked
down to hold it in place. The insurance company has been contacted, but it will raise our premiums. He is
trying to use the old permit to make the repairs, but if we need to re-issue the permit it will be more
expensive due to having to involve Short, Elliot, Hendrickson. The disc golfers have been cutting the
snow fence and caution tape to go through. The Sno Jo's agreed to help fix it. The Northland equipment
will go in as soon as possible. There was some vandalism at Klinefelter -the vandals were caught. The
picnic tables have been sealed. The kids are doing some park clean-up as restitution with parental
supervision.
Ehlert -met with Greg Bechtold from Stearns County Environmental Services at Klinefelter Park. The
idea is to try to hold more water in the pond for the summer. It would improve the wetlands if the city does
it. If we hire it, we would need a permit. It would have to be dug down to the natural soil, built up with clay
and put rocks on the top. We should pursue investigation into the repairs. Terry will meet with Greg to
discuss the matter further.
Next meeting -June 22, 2009
Motion to adjourn - 8:07 p.m.
