SUBMITTED BY: Finance BOARD/COMMISSION/COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: N/A PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: None BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Minnesota Statute 465.04 authorizes and empowers cities to receive and accept gifts and donations for the use and benefit of the city and the inhabitants thereof upon terms and conditions to be approved by the governing bodies of the city. Cities are authorized to comply with and perform such terms and conditions of the donation. Minnesota Statute 465.03 states the acceptance shall be by resolution of the city adopted by a 2/3 majority of its members, expressing such terms in full. Attached is a list of donations received by the city and a description of what the donation is intended to be used for. By accepting these donations, the city is accepting the intent of the donations also. The Colleges presented the ID Card Reader at the August 6, 2009. Although Chief Jansky was presented the card reader, the Council did not make a formal motion accepting the reader. The reader is included on this request for Council to make formal acceptance of the donated item.
