BACKGROUND INFORMATION: We have one member on our department that is an E.M.T. Her card is
coming due and asked if the fire department is going to pay for the refresher class. This issue, the initial
class, was approved by the previous Fire Chief and after talking to him he was not sure if the Fire Board
approved the refresher classes. Having someone on the department that is an E.M.T. has its good points
in that they have been taught a little more about medical emergencies and hope they will take charge
because they are more qualified then the other members. The bad thing is that we can't carry any extra
equipment on our trucks that she could use, because only she can use it.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT: Cost of the class: $295.00
Cost of the training hours: 28hours @ $10.00/hr
Class book: $45.00
TOTAL COST $620.00
ATTACHMENTS: None
REQUESTED ACTION: Have the Fire Board decide if the cost should be paid out of the departments
budget.
