Memo Fro RE: SCSUSStudy Backgrounnd: One loose end remains to be tied upp regarding thhe SCSU stuudy. The issuee relates to the nnts who renteers say they are renting to who are sstudents fromm CSB/SJU ffor 200 stude whom the innstitutions (CSB/SJU) cannot account. The issue iss further complicated in thaat: 1. Dr. Edwards is hesitant to pput faith in thhe students innforming landdlords that they atteend either CSSB or SJU. 2. Lanndlords/otherss are hesitannt to believe ssuch studentss living in St. Joseph attend SCCSU, SC Vo TTech, Rasmusssen and the like. 3. CSSB/SJU are hhesitant to ideentify them aas students sstudying abrooad and paying rennt or sub-leasiing locally. 4.Accomparison oof rental lists (populated inn Spring 2009) to CSB/SJJU student lissts (poopulated tenthh day of classs, Fall 2009) ddoesn’t accouunt the for 2000 renters eitheer, althhough it is nooted the lists are not compparing the saame students as those listed asrenters in Spring, 2009 could have gradduated and mmoved out of the area. This issue hhas been linggering for far ttoo long as wee are all awarre, however, ggiven the amount of ttime and resoources expendded in this efffort it is prudeent to insist thhe final study is objective, mmeasurable, aand answers tthe questionss it was intendded to answerr. Dr. Edwardds does not wwant to make a decision reegarding an eexplanation foor who the 200 missing stuudents/renterss are. Dr. Eddwards kindlyrequests thee EDA discusss the following options: A.Askk CSB/SJU too review studdent list from rental housinng program aand compare to reccords from Fall 2008 vs. Faall 2009. B. Update the rentaal housing program list and then ask CSB/SJU to coompare to 2009 fallroster. C. EDDA Staff call laandlords and ask how manny student rennters attend CCSB/SJU. D. Do nothing and 00 renters unacccounted for but wrap up sstudy. leave the 20 E. Sugggest a different action. Action: This item iss for your information and ddiscussion. íë
