HomeMy WebLinkAbout[01] Minutes PARK BOARD MEETING July 26, 2010 Members Present: Lonnie Abbott, Anne Glynn - Buckvold, Cory Ehlert, Chad Hausmann, Marge Lesnick, Renee Symanietz, Terry Thene. Members Absent: Jennifer Steinkamp. Guests: None. Call to Order: 7:38 p.m. Approval of Minutes: Motion to approve — Motion by Marge, second Anne. Approved! Approval of Agenda: Motion to approve — Motion by Marge, second by Anne. Approved! Treasurers Report: 1. Centennial Budget project final costs: Looks good. 2. Current Budget Status: Looks Good. 3. Park Dedication Funds: OK. Monument Park: Historical Society update for monument repairs by Marge Lesnick: No update yet until third bid. Monument Park: Federal Historical registry and site update by Chad Hausmann: Review and explanation of the Minnesota Historical and Cultural Grants manual. To apply for grants you need to get on the registry first. We can apply for a grant to get the monument on the National Registry the National Registry will then give the city of Saint Joseph up to $7,000 to have a professional grant writer fill out an application to apply for a repair grant. Renee will inform the city about the process and what the Park Boards plans are. City Report/Update: Terry Thene reported: 1. Centennial Park Equipment install update: Complete! More vandalism reported to the soffit on the new shelter. 2. Millstream Park shelter update: Complete! Marge to send the Lion's Club a "Thank you" on Saint Joseph letterhead. 3. Millstream Park parking issue: Tabled to be determined. Waiting for the County Road 2 bypass to go in before we can decide on potential of more parking for Millstream Park. 4. Miscellaneous: - Anne will send a "Thank you" on Saint Joseph letterhead to Don Bellmont and the county (Stearns County "sentence to serve ") for all the work they have done for the city this year. Without their help the work would not have able to be completed by the city maintenance department. - Marge will send a "Thank You" on Saint Joseph letterhead to C &L excavating for the donated dirt work. - Northland Park 3 -bay swing is installed and complete. Other: 1. National Recreation and Park Association conference in Minneapolis update by Anne Glynn - Buckvold: It is being held October 25 -29 and the cost is $99 to get into the exhibits only. Register by August 25 and the cost is $93. The cost for the entire conference is $400 with breakout sessions included. Their website is NRPA.org. Renee to inquire about funding. 2. Dog Park update by Anne Glynn - Buckvold: She received large e-mail from Scott Zlotnik titled Dog Park Task Force. Location to be determined. 3. Park Board discussion on meetings to be held in the parks: We will have next meeting in Centennial Park. Motion by Marge second by Anne. Motion Approved! 4. Terry would like someone with excellent photography skills to take pictures of each city park and have them displayed on the city website. Liaison Report: Renee Symanietz reported: 1. Downtown Revitalization to include access from the Wobegon Trail to be presented by Dale Wick at the next meeting. Next Scheduled Meeting Date: August 23, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. in Centennial Park.
