HomeMy WebLinkAbout[07] Outdoor Liquor Permit, La Playette CITY OF ST.it/MPH Council Agenda Item 7 MEETING DATE: September 2, 2010 AGENDA ITEM: Outdoor Liquor Permit, La Playette SUBMITTED BY: Administration and Police BOARD /COMMISSION /COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The La Playette has submitted a request for an outdoor event to held on CSB /SJU Homecoming, October 2, 2010. For past outdoor activities the City has required the license holder to hire an off duty police officer. The owner of the La Playette has indicated that the outdoor event he is planning does not include outside sale of liquor, music will not be played and there will be no ingress /egress from the outside with the exception of the Teli's pizza delivery person. In anticipation of the submittal of the application, the Police Chief and Administrator met with Mark Zimmer and his manager Troy Batig. After discussing the position of the City and past licenses and listening to Zimmer and why he should not have to hire an off duty officer, staff is recommending approval of the application. The recommendation requires the hiring of two individuals to serve as bouncers, which Zimmer offered to supply at the beginning of the meeting. The Police Chief is willing to look at the requirements for outdoor events if alcohol is not being supplied outside and there is no music. All the other requirements of the Ordinance will be met to include fencing and ending the event no later than 10 PM. Parking was also discussed as the area for the outdoor event will cover four of the parking spaces provided by the La Playette. Zimmer has made arrangements with Jon Petters to park on the vacant lot on the north side of the east /west alley.
