Jt ;EPH •�• Council Agenda Item 4(C) MEETING DATE: October 21, 2010 AGENDA ITEM: Sidewalk Repair — Requested Action: Authorize the expenditure of $ 5,650 to replace the deteriorating sidewalk at City Hall. SUBMITTED BY: Administration on behalf of Public Works BOARD /COMMISSION /COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: The Capital Improvement Plan included a project to replace the sidewalk at City Hall. At the August 11 budget meeting the Council discussed funding the improvement with the reserve from 2009. On September 2, the Council approved the transfer of the $ 5,650 to the capital fund to designate for the repairs. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Even though the Council approved the designation of $ 5,650 for the sidewalk repair, approve of the expenditure is still required as the cost is over $ 1,000 and the Capital Improvement is a guide for improvements and not intended as approval for projects. The sidewalk is becoming a safety hazard and should be completed before the weather becomes inclement. The curbing next to the building along the police entry also needs to be repaired. The deterioration of the sidewalks and entries are a safety hazard for everyone. Staff is recommending repairs to the sidewalks and entry ways in 201 I.
