REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION: Authorize the Mayor and Administrator to execute the proclamation,
declaring November 26, 2010 as Loso's Store Day.

The Saint Joseph Area Historical Society is requesting a mayoral proclamation to
designate Friday, November 26, 2010, the Friday following Thanksgiving Day, as Loso
Store Day. We want the community of Saint Joseph to recognize the legacy and
historical significance of the existence of this establishment to the local community.

A Tribute of Respect
Loso's Store Day, November 26, 2010
WHEREAS, the first Loso store, having opened in 1899 and managed by generations of Loso family until
2010; and
WHEREAS, local residents hold memories of Loso's as a general store that sold everything from food to
dry goods with Loso's Hardware Store annexed to it; and
WHEREAS, since the establishment of the City of St. Joseph, the Loso family has made a significant
contribution to the local community by maintaining a business presence in downtown St. Joseph; and
WHEREAS, the long history of service to customers in St. Joseph has terminated with the closing of
Loso's Store and will be missed by all customers, especially old -time local residents, as well as transient
college students; and
WHEREAS, the building stands as a historical landmark in downtown St. Joseph and speaks to the rich
history of the City of St. Joseph.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the City of St. Joseph declares Friday, November 26, 2010, as
Loso Store Day. This day is especially fitting in that it occurs during the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend.
