JOSEPH Council Agenda Item a MEETING DATE: February 3, 2011 AGENDA ITEM Squad Car Replacement SUBMITTED BY: Police Department Police Chief Pete Jansky BOARD /COMMISSION /COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Currently the police department leases their patrol vehicles. We lease for 4 yrs /100,000 miles. Currently we are set to replace unit 703 which is a 2008 Ford Crown Victoria with approx. 72,000 miles. I have two vehicles that I have for comparison. The Ford Crown Vic on a lease of 4yrs /90,000miles for 552.75 per month. The Chevrolet Tahoe 2wheel drive patrol vehicle on a lease of 4yrs /90,000miles for 670.43 per month. The difference in cost between the two per year is approx. $1412.16. 1 budgeted at the current rate since we did not have the new lease numbers at budget time. There is enough in the budget to cover this expense. I have done some analyses on gas mileage along with some other facts that I will share with you at the meeting. BUDGET /FISCAL IMPACT: ATTACHMENTS: None $6,633.00/$8,045.16 per year. REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION: Replace current patrol car with Chev Tahoe. THIS PAGE INTENTIONALLY LEFT BLANK
