Bill Wasner has turned in his retirement letter and his last day will be May 31, 2011. Bill started with the
fire department on May 17th 1961.
We received 11 applications from people interested in becoming part of the St. Joseph Fire Department.
After the Oral interviews and agility testing was done, the Investigating Committee came up with four of
the applications that would be a good fit to the department. All four were notified that they made it
and would move onto the background and physical part. After understanding what it takes to be a
member and thinking about it, one applicant decided not to continue the process stating she did not feel
that she would be able to put in the time that is need.
The Investigating Committee would like the approval from the Fire Board and City Council to hire
Rachael Fiedler and Sharon Young at this point. All of their background checks and physicals came back
good. We would also like to hire Bradley Albertson, pending his physical comes back ok, he needs to
complete a stress test which is scheduled for Monday May 2nd. (his background check also came back
good)
With the hiring of these three applications and the retirement of Bill Wasner at the end of the month,
we will be at 29 active members.
