AGENDA ITEM: Fire Hall Rental Fee — Requested Action: Establish the rental rate for the
residential /non profit at $ 85.00

BOARD /COMMISSION /COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: The Fire Board recommended
increasing the fire hall rental fee from $80 to $85 beginning June 1, 2011.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: As the Fire Hall is jointly owned by St. Joseph Township and the City,
approval to increase rental fees must be considered by the Fire Board. Therefore, when the Council
adopted the 2011 fee schedule on January 6, 2011 the fire hall rental was not considered at that time.
The Park shelter fees were increased by $ 5.00 for those facilities.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The fire hall rental fee is collected from members within the fire district
to use the community room. The fee collected helps cover the cost to operate the community room.
The costs include repairs and maintenance, tables, chairs, cleaning, kitchen and bathroom supplies, etc.
The Fire Board addressed the need to replace the tables in the community room. Many of the tables are
unstable and should no longer be used. The increased fee will assist in purchasing new tables for the
fire hall community room.
BUDGET /FISCAL IMPACT: Estimated $200 in increased rental revenue
