AGENDA ITEM: Park Board Appointment— Requested Action: Appoint
Andrew Deuhs to the Park Board with the term ending
January 2013.

PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: The City received a resignation from Anne Buckvold relinquishing her seat
on the Park Board.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The Park Board received an application for the open position and
considered the same at the May 9 Park Board meeting. They recommended the Council appoint Andrew
Deuhs to fill the open position.

What special interests/SkiAs/Talents would you bring to the Park Board?
1 would hope to bring a practical approach to the maintenance aspect with the parks. Maybe working with the board to
understand how long we can expect our equipment to last. How will some items, flnishesetc work or how long will they last in
our climate compared with other materials. The park board should have a comprehensive plan for the parks as well. Also what
could be done to enhance these spaces without causing more burden to the city as far as taking care of them. I think that I could
provide some answers to these scenarios given I have been doing different types of maintenance for the college.

I think that a clean ,peaceful, tranquil settings that people can go to, too relax and enjoy the company of others in their
community would benefit many lives, young and old. I would love to see more treesat least in the west side of town were I
reside the parks need morel This would provide shade and give wildlife like song birds a place to exist--this is something I would
work hard to push. Our parks could become an important pillar of our community.

I have worked part -time for the city in a couple of different aspects in the past and have enjoyed the people who i have worked
with and would like to continue to do so.
