BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Due to the recent retirement of a few members and the last
hiring, we have three openings at this time. We can have 30 members on at once, and since we
are a volunteer department, not all 30 members may be able to respond to call at any given
moment, so the fact of trying to keep at the 30 members is important. With that said, we also
feel that we should not just put anybody on just for the numbers. We do an Oral Interview, an
Agility Test, Background Check, and Physical before putting a member on to the St. Joseph Fire
Department.
BUDGET /FISCAL IMPACT: Up to $5,000 per member over a two year period
ATTACHMENTS: None
REQUESTED ACTION: Have the Fire Board approve to open up for applications for new members on the
fire department.
