MEETING DATE: August 18, 2011 Council Agenda Item 4(d) AGENDA ITEM: Gambling Report — Requested Action: Accept the 2°d Quarter Report SUBMITTED BY: Finance BOARD /COMMISSION /COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: None PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: None BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Per City Ordinance No. 62 each organization conducting lawful gambling within the City of St. Joseph is required to submit copies of their monthly state tax returns to City Hall on a quarterly and annual basis. Per review of the tax returns the organizations are sufficiently supporting the local community with their gambling proceeds. Examples of how the organizations are giving back to the community include the following items: Defibulators Tri-Cap Bus Services ROTC Scholarship Food Shelf City Street Flags Street Signs Great River Regional Library City Holiday Lights Easter Party BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT: ATTACHMENTS: Youth Softball/Baseball Boys State Military Funerals Stearns County History Museum Dollars for Scholars Polar Plunge — Special Olympics All City Band CPR Training Eagle Scout Information Only Medical Expenses School Parties Legion Baseball St. Cloud Standdown Kennedy Kidstop Veteran's Plaza at MAC Big Brothers/Big Sisters Boy Scout Troop 84 St. Joseph Lab School RCA — Quarterly Gambling Report ............................. 2nd Quarter Gambling Report ..... ...............................
