Meeting Minutes, May 23, 2011
Members Present, Lonnie Abbott (Secretary), John Anderson (Chairman), Andrew Deuhs,
Marguerite Fogerty, Bob Loso (Councilor Liaison), Terry Thene (Staff Liaison).
Members Absent; Chad Hausman (excused).
Meeting Called to Order; 7:03 pm

Treasurers Report, Motion to Approve — Lonnie, 2 "d — Marguerite, Approved!
Members Reports; Flower planting around the monument in Monument Park was discussed.
Prior flower planting was completed by former park board member Marge Lesnick and will no
longer perform this task. New park board member Marguerite volunteered to plant the flowers.
Thank you Marguerite!
Liaison Reports;
a. Bob Loso — Bob brought up discussion on repairs to the concrete at the pavilion in
Millstream Park. Bob thought the Park Board should pay for the repairs.
b. Terry Thene — In regards to the concrete repairs in Millstream Park, Terry said he is in
the process of getting price quotes and stated that maintenance repairs are not funded by
the park board.
• A new drinking fountain and subsequent concrete work is being completed in
Millstream Park by Josh Loso as part of a start to finish project in order for Josh
to obtain his Eagle Scout status. Thank You Josh, great project!
• A picnic table in Millstream park was ran into by a car and broken. After an
investigation the responsible party was discovered and was notified. Tent' is
obtaining price quotes for a new table and concrete work around the table. The
responsible party said he will pay for the repairs.
• The soffit on the Schneider field concession stand in Memorial Park was
vandalized again after vandalism was just recently repaired to the same area.
Terry does not think these are kids who are vandalizing and is looking to put
something more durable in that will prevent future damage. Please, anyone with
information about the damage should contact the St. Joseph Police Department.
• The maintenance crew is spraying for weed control around the parks.
Old Business;
a. Winter Trail Clearing Policy — The park board discussed and recommended snow first be
cleared on the trail /sidewalk along county road 121 toward Kennedy school and second
on the walking path around Klinefelter Park to be performed and paid for by city
maintenance. Terry agreed with this but only after plowing on the rest of the city streets
was completed. Motion to approve by Lonnie and seconded by Marguerite. Approved!
b. Website Development — John is still gathering information and pictures of city parks and
this is tabled until the next meeting.
c. Other — None
New Business;
a. Consideration of Funding for Pedestrian Trail (County Road 2) — A very lengthy and in-
depth discussion took place and the board decided that a final decision, to recommend to
approve or not approve, this project will be made at the next meeting.
b. Park Tours — The June meeting will begin at 6:30 in city hall and will continue through at
the following parks. Cloverdale, Klinefelter, Northland and Millstream. It is projected the
board will be at each park for approximately 15 minutes.
