The Stearns County HRA is willing to apply for a $300,000 grant on behalf of St. Joseph property owners if enough interest is present. The purpose of the grant is to provide for rental housing rehabilitation and/or owner occupied housing rehabilitation. If awarded the grant could assist rental property owners in renovation of housing stock (e.g. re- roofing, re- siding, new windows, code updates). In addition, the grant could assist own roo er - occupied purchasers of former student rental housing with the same. Stearns HRA Representative Jim Anderson will present information on the grant program and answer your questions at a meeting on Wednesday September 21, 2011 from 6:30 p.m. to 7 :00 p.m. at the St. Joseph Fire Hall. Stearns HRA will also be asking for an indication of interest in the program from potential grant recipients. We'd like to achieve an adequate show of interest because grants are awarded on a competitive basis. If adequate interest isn't present in St. Joseph potential grant dollars will flow to another community. The grant program being considered has changed dramatically since a previous grant in St. Joseph was secured in the 1990's. Information and/or comments that you may /may not have been exposed to regarding wage and/or income requirements will be discussed at the meeting on the 21 ". Please also note that grant application and, if awarded, grant administration will be conducted by the Stearns County HRA at no cost to the City. If you are planning on or interested in making improvements to rental property please make an effort to attend the meeting. In addition, if you are considering sale of or have sold student rental property to others you may wish to make them aware of the meeting as potential benefits exist. Sincerely, Barb Schloemer Cory Ehlert Kurt Schneider Dale Wick m GRANT MONEY TO REROOF, RESIDE, REPLACE WINDOWS, UPDATE HVAC Are you a homeowner needing to reroof, reside, replace windows, or update plumbing or heating? If not enough interest is shown the $300,000 in GRANT dollars will go to a different community. The presentations by Stearns County HRA will focus on the basics of the program (information) and provide those interested in program participation an opportunity to sign a non - binding form stating their interest.
