Dear Members of the Park Board,
The St. Joseph Area Historical Society actively preserves and promotes the history of St.
Joseph, MN. We are concerned that the historic monument built by the WPA in 1941, located at
2nd Ave NW and Birch Street, which is currently in disrepair, be preserved. We believe that this
project would qualify for a Legacy Grant and would encourage the application of such. There is
a two year time frame within which to do the necessary research and leg work, write and submit
the grant application and complete the project. We believe that this monument can be restored as
a joint venture with the Park Board.
We encourage discussion of this project be undertaken immediately in order to comply
with the time frame for the Legacy Grant. Members of the St. Joseph Area Historical Society
would welcome a response from the Park Board and would be happy to support this undertaking.
